An enlarged 1.9-liter evolution of the 125 S rather than a clean-sheet production model, retaining the tubular front-V12 layout, five-speed gearbox, drums and period leaf-spring rear arrangement. It was developed to increase torque and speed almost immediately after Ferrari’s first competitions and is best understood as part of the rapid 125→159→166 development chain. Surviving originality is inseparable from early chassis reuse, so a repeatable production count or market range is not meaningful; authenticated components attached to an early Ferrari competition chassis carry multimillion-dollar historical significance. Maintenance/provenance concerns are identical to the 125 S, amplified by specification changes during its working life.

Ferrari’s first sustained road-going GT line used the Colombo 1,995-cc V12, normally in a softer ≈90–110-hp tune, tubular frame, five-speed transmission, independent front suspension and live rear axle. Touring, Ghia, Stabilimenti Farina and particularly Vignale supplied bodies, making “166 Inter” a chassis/mechanical family rather than one homogeneous shape. Roughly three dozen were produced. The importance is commercial: it begins the Ferrari pattern of selling refined GTs to finance racing. Current ordinary examples trade roughly in the high-six/low-seven-figure range, but unique coachwork changes values drastically. Authenticity, wood/aluminum body framing, corrosion, carburetion, cooling and matching-number evidence are the key ownership issues.

Competition-oriented 166 mechanicals with road/competition crossover coachwork; 1,995-cc Colombo V12, roughly 110–125 hp depending specification, five-speed and tubular chassis. Very few were constructed and bodies/specification changed during competition use. Consequently there is no robust “private-sale average”; an unquestionably original car belongs broadly in the multi- million-dollar early-competition-Ferrari market. Preservation of original chassis tubes, engine castings and coachwork is materially more valuable than cosmetic restoration.

The “MM” commemorated the Mille Miglia and the Touring barchetta became one of the defining early Ferraris. Typical specification was the 1,995-cc Colombo V12 at about 140 hp, five-speed, tubular frame, drums and roughly 650-kg competition weight. The model’s status rests on major sports-car success, including Ferrari’s first Le Mans overall victory in 1949. Gianni Agnelli’s 166 MM Touring barchetta, chassis 0064 M, is specifically celebrated by Ferrari. Approximately four dozen MM-series cars are generally counted, but rebodies and upgrades complicate totals. Strong documented cars occupy roughly a $3–8+ million band, with important competition chassis above it.

Despite the “250” name, production cars normally used a 3.286-liter V12, ≈320 hp, five-speed and mid-engine architecture. Ferrari failed to obtain the intended GT homologation, so the model competed as a prototype. NART’s chassis won Le Mans overall in 1965; that very car sold for €34.88 million in Paris in February 2025, becoming one of the most valuable Ferraris publicly sold. Approximately 32 were built. 330 GT 2+2 — 1964–1967. 3.967-liter V12, 300 hp, early four-speed plus overdrive and later five-speed, around 1,380 kg. This was Ferrari’s first series-production plug-in hybrid and one of its most technically dense road cars. CLASSIC.COM’s SF90-family average sale is about $617,000, but ordinary Stradale transactions commonly fall around $400,000–$600,000 depending Assetto Fiorano/specification. High-voltage battery condition, hybrid cooling, inverter/software health, brake-by-wire, dampers and 12-V battery management are critical.

Ferrari Roma Spider

2023–mid-2020s

Soft-top Roma, 3.855-liter turbo V8/620 CV, eight-speed DCT and rear drive. Ferrari deliberately returned to a fabric roof for packaging/style reasons. Current nearly-new collector/used market roughly $300,000–$400,000, specification and warranty dependent; software/battery, roof mechanism, DCT and electronics are the principal diligence items. Ferrari’s dealer archive places it as the most recent entry on the Past Models page examined here. Market, maintenance, data gaps, and source conclusions Collector-market structure Ferrari values divide into qualitatively different markets rather than one smooth age curve. Common post-1970 production cars trade on condition, transmission and specification; limited series add scarcity; and early works competition Ferraris trade primarily on identity and provenance. That is why a 1950s car with the right Mille Miglia/Fangio history can be worth tens of millions while another mechanically similar chassis is worth a fraction. The clearest public examples are 290 MM 0626 at $28.05 million, 412 P 0854 at $30.255 million, 250 GTO 3413 at $48.405 million, 330 LM/GTO 3765 at $51.705 million and the 1965 Le Mans-winning 250 LM at €34.88 million. Modern analog halo Ferraris have also appreciated sharply. The F40’s August 2026 market benchmark is about $3.34 million versus an average sale near $2.95 million, with CLASSIC.COM recording a $6.6-million 77 90 78 91 92 78 78 93 36 37 === high sale in January 2026; a normal 2025 RM sale was $3.855 million. The F50 benchmark is about $7.24 million, while Ralph Lauren’s yellow example reached $9.245 million in 2025. The Enzo benchmark is about $7.44 million; RM sold a low-mileage example for $9.3 million in January 2026 and CLASSIC.COM records another January 2026 sale at $17.875 million. The chart should not be interpreted as a clean investment return series: benchmark methodology, mileage, originality, color , provenance and auction context differ . It does show why a single “typical Ferrari appreciation rate” would be analytically misleading. Production scarcity is similarly nonlinear . Ferrari built 1,315 F40s but only 349 F50s; modern limited runs commonly use deliberate numeric caps such as 499 Speciale As, 499 LaFerrari coupes, 210 LaFerrari Apertas, 799 F12tdfs, 999 812 Competiziones and 599 Competizione As.
