An enlarged 1.9-liter evolution of the 125 S rather than a clean-sheet production model, retaining the tubular front-V12 layout, five-speed gearbox, drums and period leaf-spring rear arrangement. It was developed to increase torque and speed almost immediately after Ferrari’s first competitions and is best understood as part of the rapid 125→159→166 development chain.
